POLLING PLACE AND BUFFER ZONES FOR ALLEGHANY COUNTY POLLING PLACES
Buffer zones will be marked at the Early Voting site during early voting, and at individual precinct polling places, with signs that read: “POLL DISTANCE MARKER”
Buffer Zones are explained and defined by G.S. 163-166.4 as “Buffer Zone. – No person or group of persons shall hinder access, harass others, distribute campaign literature, place political advertising, solicit votes, or otherwise engage in election related activity in the voting place or in a buffer zone” . . . where the “county board of elections shall, where practical, set the limit at 50 feet from the door of entrance to the voting place, measured when that door is closed, but in no event shall it set the limit at more than 50 feet or less than 25 feet”.
Precinct polling locations are as follows:
Municipal Election-Town of Sparta: County Administration Building; 348 S. Main Street, Lower Level, Sparta, NC 28675 (buffer zone is 50 feet from the main door).
Cherry Lane: Cherry Lane Volunteer Fire Department; 8378 U.S. Hwy 21 South, Glade Valley, NC 28627 (buffer zone is 50 feet from the main door).
Gap Civil: Sparta United Methodist Church Pugh Outreach Center, 190 North Main St., Sparta, NC 28675 (buffer zone is 50 feet from the main door).
Glade Creek: Glade Creek Volunteer Fire Department; 6374 Glade Valley Rd, Ennice, NC 28623 (buffer zone is 50 feet from the main door).
Prathers Creek: Mount Zion United Methodist Church; 3128 Mount Zion Church Rd., Piney Creek, NC 28663 (buffer zone is 50 feet from the main door).
